The Present Continuous Tense describes actions that are happening at the moment of speaking, an event that is taking place now, around the current time or ongoing actions that are occurring around the present time.

Use Present Continuous Tense

The Present Continuous Tense is used for expressing an action or an event that is taking place now (at the time of speaking). The Present Continuous Tense is also known as the Present Progressive Tense.

The Present Continuous Tense is formed by using ‘be’ am / is / are + main verb with ‘ing’.

e.g.

i) I am reading a book now.

ii) He is reading a book now.

iii) The boys are playing football at the moment.

Remember

* I am = I’m

** He / She / It = He’s / She’s / It’s

*** We / You / They = We’re / You’re / They’re

Present Continuous Tense Formula
